#29 - Viola

My viola entry to the VSA competition last week.  This one unexpectedly (to me) won a Certificate of Merit for Tone.

#27 - Violin

My entrant into the VSA competition last week.  Didn't win anything.  Probably should finish making my instruments earler; this one was strung up for the first time a week before.

Just returned from Tucson, where the 2018 VMAAI violinmaking competition was held.  My #25 violin took the top tone awards, and second for combined tone and workmanship.

What could be better than a visit from Sam Zygmuntowicz to chat about violinmaking for a few hours.

Violin #25

Not quite in numerical sequence... but #25 just got completed.  It's my Guarneri-ish model, top and back woods match #24, taken from the same log.

Here it is (4 days after stringing up) being played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTZYM0NoWfs&feature=youtu.be

Annelle Gregory played a concert in Kiev, Ukraine recently (my violin #21)
and some more great playing by Annelle, from a few months ago.

Violin #26 completed, my first one using the Strad P form, a bit smaller than the normal ones I have been making.  The sound doesn't seem any smaller, however.  I don't have a video where you can hear it played (yet), but you can download an audio file from a post here.
